VBS
Matthew 5:13-20
Theme: Letting THE Light Shine Through You
Yesterday was being salt and today’s focus was being the light of Christ in a dark and dying world. We are called to be beacons of hope to those around us. This world is in desperate need of a Savior and we have the ability and responsibility to point and lead them to Him. Light exposes things. We can see when there is light. We can see the world for what it truly is. Pray for the last couple of days of ministry - that we would continue to be salt and light to the people here. Pray as we return home because being salt and light to Dayton.
We did our VBS program at a church out in the rural areas of Nicaragua. This is the church of one of our translators, he is actually the pastor. His family has been with us most of the week, helping us do ministry to the people of Managua.
I, Grant, gave the lesson. I had the opportunity to combine all “5 C’s of History” from Jungle Journey VBS. It was a great time to share the Gospel. The area is very Catholic and is against coming to church. Pray that God would soften their hearts to Him.
A few from our team helped start some projects that needed done around the area of the church we did VBS at. A door needed rehanging, a firepit needed new cement blocks around it, and plastic needed to be put up around someone’ home.
More Craft time!
We had a few hours in the market to buy souvenirs and gifts. It was fun to watch everyone interact with the vendors and barter to buy all the things!
We went to Mi Ranchito for dinner, and it was delicious. Fried chicken, steak, ribs, french fries, pork rinds, coleslaw, rice & beans, palantians, meat kabobs, and so much more! The best part was the frozen cocoa drink. It was basically a chocolate milkshake.
We talked about our highs and lows. Most of them consisted of the market or the long drive to and from the church, which took about 2 hours each way. On the way back, I will say the bus was loud as students were sharing what they got and having fun on the way back.
