One Bistro

Day Three of our Dayton Serve trip is complete! And what a good day we had! Today we traveled out to Xenia to One Bistro, a restaurant that seeks to serve the greater community and meet one of their most basic needs, to be fed.

What is One Bistro?

One Bistro works off of a pay what you can model of business. Their menus are set at a very fair price, but if you can’t afford to pay that price, you can ask for a lower price, or to “pay” through some volunteer work around the restaurant. To keep costs down, One Bistro relies on volunteers to do the work normal employees would do, like waiting and bussing tables, cleaning, and hosting. These jobs are all done by volunteers to help ensure this “Businistry” stays afloat! And that is exactly what we did today! We bussed tables, cared for customers, cleaned the store, and provided a wonderful and welcoming environment for the customers!

In our lesson we moved to Ephesians 3:1-13 where we learned the Mystery of God, and how he revealed the answer to this mystery to Paul, who then revealed this to us. This mystery being the gift of Salvation that the Lord offers to all of us and the promise that we have an all powerful God on our side, whatever trouble may come!
