US Fish & Wildlife Services notified WHBC of an upcoming event in May where a rare species, "Plasticus Rosarius Flamingus," is expected to gather on the front lawns of Washington Heights residents. These flocks will appear only for the month of May. Please be on the lookout for these birds, and if you see them DO NOT APPROACH, government authorities say they only respond to trained handlers. However, some of our New Heights youth are working through their training and will be able to collect and move them.
A team of 10 students from New Heights will be heading to Pawley’s Island, SC this summer. They will be doing some service projects and VBS programming in the more impoverished areas of Pawley’s Island. Flocking is occurring this year so we can provide gifts to the kids we will be interacting with throughout the week during our VBS.
Learn how to flock your friends, family, neighbors. Birds will stay in lawns for 24 hours so be sure to pick people who will play along :)
